CHARITABLE groups are being urged to apply for grants worth thousands of pounds from the charitable arm of Newsquest, which publishes the Wiltshire Times and The Gazette and Herald.

The Gannett Foundation is keen to back charitable not-for-profit groups in the town with grants ranging from £1,000 to £50,000 and is now accepting applications.

Wiltshire Times:

Last year, Stepping Stones in Trowbridge, Wessex MS Therapy in Warminster and Swift Medics in Pewsey, who all work across the county have were awarded over £10,000 collectively towards projects which help the community.

All applicants must be registered charities and the foundation will not consider any that have received a grant from it in the past two years.

Grants will also not be given to fund salaries and running costs, appeals as opposed to specific projects, or to promote political or religious groups.

Projects must also bring benefits to the community, schools or hospitals and each nomination will be judged on its merits by trustees of the foundation, whose decision is final.

In the last 10 years alone, the Gannett Foundation has made grants in the UK alone totalling nearly £4 million.

All applications MUST be on official Gannet forms which are available from Charlotte Cross. Write to her at 100 Victoria Road, Swindon, SN1 3BE or email charlotte.cross@newsquest.co.uk to request a form. The deadline for the return of completed application forms is October 14, 2016
