Villagers defied the heavy rain to show their support for the annual Southwick Show, with plenty of the activities organised still going ahead.

The event, which was based at Southwick Village Hall and playing field, included live music from acts such as rock and roll singer Joe Brown, as well as a host of stalls, dog agility show, barbecue, flower show and a raffle.

Although some of the activities had to be cancelled, including the car boot sale and the Active Trowbridge stand, chairman of the show Chris Rawlings said he was “amazed” by the support from villagers.

Mr Rawlings said: “I want to thank everyone who came along, our sponsors HJ Knee and Tesco and all the stallholders.

“Considering the weather and how close we were to cancelling, it was a really great day.”
