Budding astronauts at Shaw Primary CofE School experienced what life would be like in space as a Space Odyssey dome visited the school on Tuesday.

Pupils went on a journey using images, animations and movies to teach them about the moon and scientists in space as part of their science week.

The event was organised by deputy headteacher Carol Sampey and paid for by the Parents and Friends of Shaw group. Ms Sampey said: “The children were amazed by it, they were buzzing, and so were the adults.

“It was inspirational. It felt like it was taking you on a journey. We were trying to get across to the children that real scientists don’t fit into that stereotypical image of white coats and potions. We want to show science on a wider scale.”

Parents of children who use science at work also came in to speak to the pupils.
