Six Springfields Academy pupils were asked to compete in the Wiltshire Cricket's Table Cricket Competition, which was hosted at Lavington School near Devizes, with eleven other schools and colleges across the county.

The day began with group stages, in which each school competed against one another before advancing to a play-off based on their total group finish.

The Springfields Academy progressed through to the finals after winning all five of their games, taking home the cup for overall day winners and securing them a place in the upcoming Regional Finals at the Devon Cricket Centre in Exeter.

Aisha Farmilo, Physical Education Instructor from The Springfields Academy, said: “Sport is a great leveller for lots of children allowing them to not only develop their physical skills, but also make new friends, have fun, learn to be a team member and about fair play; amongst lots of other skills.”

She added: “It was such a delight on the day to see the schools across Wiltshire come together and be given an opportunity, not only to compete, but to support each other and positively influence their peer groups.

"The young people that were involved with the day, whether participating or leading, should be very proud of themselves.”
