A young man who joined Trowbridge Westbourne Tennis Club at the age of seven has been honoured for his commitment and dedication.
Will Knight was crowned Wiltshire Volunteer of the Year by Wiltshire Tennis at its awards ceremony on February 3 at the offices of Bechtle, which sponsored the event.
Rob Tedder, who chairs Trowbridge Westbourne Tennis Club, said: “We really appreciate Will’s contribution to our community club’s transformation into an inclusive, welcoming place to play tennis, and we're thrilled that Wiltshire Tennis have recognised him with this coveted award.
“At 23, Will is the youngest person ever to join our committee. He won the award for his remarkable contribution at such a young age, for captaining two teams, running our club closed tournament, boosting our social presence, and helping revamp singles play at the club.”
Mr Knight said: “I joined the club when I was seven years old. I’m really enjoying giving back to the grassroots community.
"I hope that I can inspire young people to get involved in community projects. It helps to develop new skills and is very fulfilling."
Mr Knight now goes on to the regional stage of the Lawn Tennis Association's National Awards.
