Details have been approved for a new housing development set to be constructed in a village approximately 2.5 miles east of Westbury.

The appearance and layout of 31 new homes have been given the go-ahead by Wiltshire Council on land north of Westbury Road and west of Court Orchard, in Bratton.

The site is a rectangular field bordered to the north and east by a narrow public footpath.

Outline planning permission was approved for the site in 2022.

During the consultation period, the local parish council said: “Bratton Parish Council are pleased to see the overall design that Ashford Homes have provided for the site, and appreciate the effort they have made to engage with the residents of the Parish.

“We recognise the potential benefits that the development will bring to the viability of the Parish, including additional pupils for the village schools, custom for the village shop, the Duke public house and users of the two village halls.”

The layout will be designed to reflect “barn-like clusters of buildings” seen around the edge of Bratton by constructing three residential courtyards.

12 of the properties will be considered affordable housing; 7 will be affordable rent and 5 will be shared ownership.
