One man has been arrested after plain-clothes police officers broke up a suspected drug deal in a Wiltshire town centre.

The 40-year-old man was detained after officers witnessed what they believed to be a drug deal on Church Street in Trowbridge, during the morning of Friday, April 12.

He has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

PC Dentry and PC Holdsworth, of the Trowbridge neighbourhood teams, were conducting plain-clothed patrols through the town when they saw the alleged incident taking place.

Officers moved quickly to detain a suspect and another police vehicle was called to the scene to assist.

The suspect has since been transported to the Gablecross custody unit in Swindon, where he will be interviewed by officers.
