A supermarket chain is asking Wiltshire residents what town they would like to see a new store built.

Aldi has launched a new nationwide initiative to pinpoint locations in need of a new shop.

The UK’s fourth-biggest supermarket is currently undergoing a rapid expansion drive and has already identified Devizes, Salisbury, and Bradford on Avon as potential destinations for new branches.

Now the chain is calling on its UK customers to let planners know which towns, including those in Wiltshire, need a new store most.

The areas with the most suggestions will be considered as part of Aldi’s commitment to build hundreds of new stores across Britain.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate, said: “There are still some areas that either don’t have an Aldi or have potential for more stores.

“We’ve identified some key places where there is demand already, but now we are calling on the public to share their views.

“This will be used to help inform our property search over the coming years.”

Those who want their town to be considered should contact the supermarket by May 31.

They should email NextNewStore@Aldi.co.uk, stating their postcode and why they believe their area needs a new shop.

Aldi plans to update customers on the results and their priority “wish list” later this year.
