A and B CUP: Bradford United and The Deverills will have to replay after their Pied Piper Promotions-sponsored A and B Cup tie after Saturday's game ended in a 2-2 draw.

In a hard fought but scrappy tie, The Deverills deservedly took the lead after 35 minutes with a fine 20 yard strike by Aaron Stevens. Three minutes before the break John Baker, going nowhere, was upended in the penalty box and got up to score an equaliser.

Bradford had the better of the second half but went behind again to a 25 yard free kick after 80 minutes from Nick Bunyard which the Bradford goalkeeper could only help over the line. A mix-up in the Deverills defence three minutes later handed another equaliser to Bradford, Elliott Hinton coolly side-footing in the loose ball.

Although Bradford dominated the extra-time they were unable to find the winner and the tie goes to a replay at Heytesbury.

Freshford United 2, Steeple Ashton 1 (after extra-time)

FRESHFORD booked their place in the second round of the cup after over-coming Steeple Ashton with an extra-time winner.

Sam Kitchen got the hosts off to an early advantage by giving Freshford the lead in the first half and it would have been a lot more if Ashton’s goalkeeper Jones hadn’t been on top form. The second half saw a rejuvenated Ashton take to the field and they managed to force themselves on to level terms midway through the period thanks to a goal from Matt Gurke. With the 90 minutes up both teams looked for the extra-time winner, but it was Jones who was the busier keeper. Eventually Freshford’s pressure told and they scored the winner through Chris Birleson.

Frome Town Sports 6, Westwood 5 (after extra-time)

FROME Town Sports booked their place in the next round after winning an 11 goal thriller by the odd goal against Third Division Westwood.

The Somerset side made the brighter start and were one up inside five minutes thanks to Damien Edwards. Westwood then hit back with two quick goals to take the lead with a brace from Dan Thorn. With the half-time interval rapidly approaching, Frome Town Sports scored an equaliser through Phil Webley.

The second half started just as the first, with the hosts Frome on top and scoring a goal through Joe Upshall for a 3-2 lead. Frome then doubled their advantage on the hour mark as Phil Webley scored his second to make it 4-2. Westwood then scored with ten minutes left to make it 4-3 with a goal from Dan Thorn to complete his hat-trick and he then scored his fourth to level the match in the 88th minute. The first period of extra-time saw both teams going for a decisive goal but both defences remained strong. The last 15 minutes then saw three more goals as first Westwood took the lead through Steven Lye for a 5-4 advantage before Frome scored two rapid goals through Guthrie Brassington and Sam Anstis to seal the win.

St Andrews Winsley 1, Seend United 2

DIVISION One leaders Seend United went through after a hard-fought win over Division Two front-runners St Andrews, Winsley.

St Andrews controlled the early encounters and after 20 minutes they took the lead through Owen Rees and the young team continued to impress. Not long before half-time, Seend United found their feet and veteran Chris Styles headed in a fine equaliser.

After a shaky start, Seend began to dominate and went close several times, but St Andrews goalkeeper Josh Twyford made several fine saves worthy of keeping the home side in the cup tie. St Andrews broke on the counter but failed to convert chances. Seend finally found their winner, through John Hubbard, and held on in a frantic last 10 minutes to progress to the quarter finals.
