Trowbridge Wanderers 5 Bradford United Reserves 0

BRADFORD United Reserves battled bravely against the Division One leaders in the first round of the competition, sponsored by Chantry Digital Limited of Trowbridge.

The first half saw United peg back Trowbridge Wanderers to a 1-0 half time lead.

Chris Rookley saw an early effort cleared off the line and Tom Pang had a point-blank shot saved with great reactions from the Bradford keeper.

But it was Rookley, with his second attempt on goal, that broke the deadlock with a bullet header from a well-placed Sam Dawson corner.

The second half was all Wanderers and if it wasn’t for the Bradford keeper it could’ve been double figures early on.

The worst miss of the season came within 10 minutes of the restart when Jamie Moth rounded the keeper and sliced his effort wide of the target.

Pang soon made it 2-0 after a well-worked build-up saw him extend his tally for the season to seven goals in five games.

Adam Mercer opened his account of the season with Wanderers third and Mercer added a second shortly after.

Dawson completed the scoring after tapping home a close-range effort.

Westbury had the better of the first half with two goals from Steve Munday and Rob Youens, Wanderers goal coming from Dan Mercer.
