TROWBRIDGE Town boss Kieran Baggs was delighted to see his new-look side pick up their first league victory under his stewardship in comfortable fashion at Devizes Town Reserves last weekend.

The Bees manager, who took over earlier this month, led his team into two consecutive cup clashes before the elements put paid to last week’s game against Wootton Bassett Town Development.

On Saturday, Baggs’ Trowbridge finally got their teeth into the Premier Division, with midfielder Liam Milburn netting twice to see off Devizes 2-0.

“It was a really comfortable win and we could have won by a few more,” said Baggs.

“Liam Milburn got our first after James Vincent’s shot was blocked and after Lewis Porter pulled off a great save, Liam got the second one with a cracker.

“We’ve carried on bringing in players to try and get us ready for the Western League in a few years. James Vincent has signed from Shepton (Mallet) and has committed for the season, and Ben Millard and Mark Nolan, who has signed from Chippenham Park, made their debuts.

“Jamie Batstone also played his first game for five years after being out for so long with knee problems. He’s a centre-half and he played for Corsham Town and Bradford Town.

“We’ve got the game against Melksham in the Wiltshire Senior Cup coming up (on November 8) and that will be a good test to see where we are.”

Trowbridge Wanderers’ six-match unbeaten run was brought to an end as they lost 3-2 at Shrewton United.

Leaders Melksham Town thrashed Westbury United Reserves 4-1, with Steve Burns’ side now unbeaten in ten, and Corsham Town Reserves slipped to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Vale of Pewsey.
