CHIPPENHAM Town’s Greg Tindle admits that seeing his side crash out of the FA Trophy “with a whimper” left him feeling foul-mouthed.

The defender couldn’t stop the Bluebirds from suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central Bedford Town last weekend, with Mark Collier’s men unable to recover from two early goals at the Eyrie.

Tindle initially formed part of a three-man defence alongside fellow centre-halves Matt Coupe and Mark Preece, who netted Chippenham’s consolation goal, but thinks that his team’s change of formation wasn’t an excuse for a defeat boss Collier dubbed unacceptable.

“I know that I can’t but I want to swear about it because it was that bad. It was just one of those games where everyone seemed to have an off-day,” said Tindle.

“We were 2-0 down after 20-odd minutes. It wasn’t as if they blew us away but they just seemed to be more up for it than we were and were first to every second ball.

“I think the only one who came out with any credit was the young lad Ryan Campbell. It was just a bad day at the office.

“We started with a 3-5-2 and when we went to a flat back four, I moved to left-back.

“At this level, it shouldn’t matter what formation we were playing.

“It’s frustrating because if we played them ten more times, we’d probably win ten times.

“It’s the way that we’ve gone out – we’ve gone out with a whimper.”
