WITH teams below them missing out on a fixture, Potterne FC extended their lead at the top of the first division to eight points from Melksham Cosmos thanks to a thumping 14-1 win over an out-of-sorts Christian Malford side.

Potterne opened the scoring after just five minutes when Ben House went past two defenders to score.

They added a second after nine minutes when Simon Drewitt was put in by Neil Clark. Ben House completed his hat-trick with goals in the 12th and 14th minutes to give Potterne a 4-0 lead.

Neil Clark then scored two in the 17th and 24th minutes to increase the lead to 6-0.

Ben House then scored his fourth in the 26th minute to stretch the lead to 7-0.

For a short time Malford managed to stem the flow of goals with Matt Hutchings in their goal making several excellent saves to keep the score at 7-0 at he break.

Potterne quickly increased their lead to 9-0 with Clark completed his hat-trick in the 48th minute and Ben House adding his fifth shortly after.

A flare-up minutes later saw both teams reduced to ten men, Stuart White seeing red for Malford and Wayne House for Potterne.

Clark then scored his fourth goal in the 56th minute to give Potterne a 10-0 lead. Simon Drewitt then headed home his second from substitute Ashley Huntley’s cross from the right to increase the lead to 11-0 in the 73rd minute.

Malford did pull a goal back in the 76th minute when David Brown scored from Chris Watchman’s cross from the right.

Two minutes later Potterne were 12-1 in front when Potterne’s captain and man of the match Lee Sanders scored. Potterne then added two more goals from substitutes Ashley Huntley and Leo Whitehead in the 84th and 87th minutes to run out convincing 14-1 winners.

Referee Neil Hickton controlled the game very well.

FC Buscots faced a potential banana-skin to their title hopes when they visited an unpredictable Talbot FC. Buscots who haven’t been at their best this term, but still boast a 100 per cent record.

Once again, they had to come from behind before claiming a 5-2 victory to keep themselves in the hunt for a third successive promotion.

Nathan West’s first-half goal looked at one stage as if it may help Talbot cause another upset but a change in formation for the Buscots at the break saw them turn things around in the second half.

Phil Little got Buscots back on level terms and Adam Bewley gave them the lead before his second of the game made it 3-1.

Bewley then turned provider for his team's fourth, squaring the ball to Rob Drown up put Buscots 4-1 up before Bewley completed his hat-trick with goal number five. Dean Fry scored a late second for Talbot.
