HAVING set the bar so high during his debut season, Leroy Houston admits he is still trying to reclaim his very best form for Bath Rugby.

Number eight Houston arrived at The Rec from French side Colomiers ahead of the 2013-14 campaign and capped a remarkable first year in blue, black and white by being crowned the club’s player of the year at their end-of-season awards ceremony.

With their back-row decimated by a raft of injuries in recent months, Houston has still been a prominent figure in the pack this term but the Australian ace knows he still has much more to offer.

“During the last couple of games I’ve been feeling my way back into it,” said Houston, who was handed a three-match suspension in October after being cited for a tip tackle.

“I feel good about my game and the way I have been playing but I want to get back to that form I had last season.

“The coaches have been good to me so hopefully I can keep my place in the team and get towards where I was.”

If Houston plays to his very best it will go a long way to helping Bath overcome Harlequins in tonight’s Aviva Premiership match at The Rec.

The game is the pair’s first meeting since Quins pipped Bath to a top-four finish on the final day of the 2013-14 regular season but Houston says revenge is not on his mind.

“That’s been put to bed. We haven’t spoken about what happened in that game at all this week,” said Houston, who turned 28 earlier this month.

“It’s a new season so we’ve had a new start. It doesn’t really have a bearing. We are just focusing on what this game means to this season. Firstly, we know how dangerous a team they can be.

“They are a very good side with quality players all over the park and they can cause us some real problems if we let them keep hold of the football for too long.”

l BATH fly-half George Ford has retained his place in England’s side for tomorrow’s final international of the autumn against Australia at Twickenham.

Anthony Watson is again selected on the wing, while prop David Wilson and lock Dave Attwood retain their places.

Bath hooker Rob Webber is named on the bench.
