TROWBRIDGE skipper Mike Reynolds heaped praise on star batsman Andrea Agathangelou as his brilliant double century inspired them to an emphatic 88-run triumph at Devizes, Leicestershire ace Agathangelou plundered a breathtaking 212 off 150 balls to help Trowbridge set a daunting total of 335-5, with Devizes only able to muster 247-9 in response.

“We definitely got our money’s worth in that game,” said Reynolds.

“I’ve never seen someone play so confidently batting 360 degrees. He hit them to all parts and made them look pretty ragged.

“He’s one of the best if not the best in the league. From what I have seen he is right up there.

“We’re very fortunate that we can have someone like him on our books and we’re delighted to have him.

“He has made a massive difference for us. He has made us believe in our own game and play as well as we have been.

“First and foremost, he is a really nice guy as well as a fantastic cricketer.”

Agathangelou received solid support from Sam Julyan (51) as Trowbridge made their way to the daunting total but had to be patient when they got their hands on the ball.

Plenty of Devizes batsmen got themselves in but Trowbridge kept plugging away and none were able to post a half-century.

Dan Tallentire led the attack with 3-34, while Scott Mitchell and Rob Edginton claimed two wickets apiece as Devizes finished some way adrift by the time their 50 overs came to a close.

“We didn’t get off to the best of starts so we took the pace off the ball and that seemed to work for us,” said Reynolds.

“It was a good test for us and it made the win even more worthwhile.

“We’re really happy with where we are at the moment halfway through the season.

“Considering we won five games all last year and have already won seven from the first nine, I am absolutely delighted.”

Elsewhere, Westbury kept pace with joint leaders Marlborough at the top of the table with a 209-run win over Great Bedwyn.

Jared McDonald was the catalyst for the victory as his unbeaten 137 helped Westbury post 317-3. Ben Whiting chipped in with 76.

James Hart tried his best to provide some resistance in Great Bedwyn’s reply, making 52 as they were skittled for 108. Andy Carroll took 5-21 and Richard Oakley 4-25.

Charlie Holton’s 58 helped Winsley chase down Calne’s target to claim a two-wicket victory.

Nick Gerrish’s impressive haul of 4-49 had restricted Calne to 234 all out, a total largely down to the efforts of James Watson (86). Kegan Smart also chipped in with 3-51.

Opener Holton batted patiently in the Winsley reply and was supported well by Alain Hewett (45) before an unbeaten 41 from Gerrish got them over the line in the final over.
