Swindon Town fans to vote for Adver Player of the Season

Swindon are presently on course for the club’s worst season in the four-tier structure, with six games remaining to prevent setting a new bar in what has been a very difficult campaign for the club.

Using the player ratings that have been handed out for each match this season, the five players with the highest total scores will make up your five nominees to choose from to add the latest name to the award that has been handed to a player at the end of every season since Ken McPherson won it for the 1963/64 season.

You will have until 5 pm on Friday, April 5 to vote before the award will be presented at the Swindon Town Supporters Club End of Season Presentation Dinner on Thursday, April 11.

Udoka Godwin Malife – 222 points (5.69 average rating)

Arriving in the summer having left Forest Green Rovers, Godwin-Malife immediately excited with his strong defensive ability, coupled with a tendency to get forwards. This season has been far from the greatest defensively for Swindon, but either on the right of a back three or at right-back in a back four, he has been a shining light.

He ranks in the 100th percentile for successful dribbles and the 96th percentile for chances created amongst defenders this season. His rare speed has seen him be very effective at the back, he is in the 100th percentile for recoveries and 90th for interceptions.

Charlie Austin – 212 points (5.3 average rating)

Starting his first full campaign back at his first professional club, Austin hit the ground running. He struck up an immediate partnership with Dan Kemp and Jake Young, scoring goals himself but also being pivotal in creating for them. Reaching double-digit goals for the ninth time sees him just one away from bringing up 200 for his career.

His six assists see him in the 100th percentile amongst strikers in League Two and the 81st for chances created. But he has done more than just create, being in the 87th percentile for expected goals and 92nd for total shots.

Frazer Blake-Tracy – 190 points (5.42 average rating)

Hoping to retain the award he won last year, Blake-Tracy has been equally as adept as Godwin-Malife at going in both directions as Michael Flynn installed a novel overlapping centre-back system. He has continued to show himself as a force to be reckoned with in the air and he can get it down and play too.

His 150 aerial duels won with a 64 per cent win rate sees him in the 89th percentile in League Two, as well as being in the 93rd percentile for recoveries. On the ball, less than six per cent of defenders have completed more passes than him.

Dan Kemp – 172 points (6.61 average rating)

Kemp was a revelation from the minute he arrived at the County Ground, getting off to a rapid start and never slowing down even when those around him did. His relationship on and off the pitch with Young sparkled and his early season prowess will ultimately keep Town in the division. He kept going in the Winter months with memorable individual displays helping to earn wins over Forest Green and Mansfield Town. He has not only been one of Swindon’s best players but League Two’s.

Only Davis Keillor-Dunn, Jodi Jones and Macaulay Langstaff have more goal involvements than him this season.

George McEachran – 163.5 points (5.83 average rating)

McEachran became a key part of the cog in Swindon’s success in the first nine games as he partnered Saidou Khan in the middle of midfield. He has added relentless energy to the excellent passing range that he left the Chelsea academy with and even got his first senior goal against Salford City. His performance off the bench at Sutton United saw him just edge out Khan for the final slot by 1.5 points.

A very impressive 1,147 passes completed at an 83.1 per cent accuracy both rank in the 87th percentile for the whole league, and he is also in the 84th percentile for tackles.
