I HAVE attempted repeatedly to deposit some old metal shelves at Trowbridge Recycling Centre this week. I tried three times but each time cars were queuing down the centre of Canal Road waiting to get in. Last time I counted 18 cars blocking the road which must be a safety hazard.
The problem seems to be two-fold. Firstly, the restricted opening hours (10am-4pm) on only five days a week and, secondly, people who declined to pay the £40 for their green bins coming with more green waste than previously.
The council has obviously gained from both the reduced hours and the green bin charge but I suspect the long-term result may be more recyclable items being deposited in the grey bins?
